Cockatoos

Today we went to Grant's on Sherbrooke and fed the birds.
The cockatoos were a little bit too Alfred Hitchcock for Anni - she screamed when they tried to land on her and one cocky stabbed her shoulder with it's giant talon when it tried to land on her!  She recovered quickly though - so long as no birds tried to land ON us.  When one landed on her little friend Harvey's pusher she screamed for it to get off.  Boy can she shriek!!
Anni told me this afternoon;
"The cockatoos got big claws.  Cockatoos naughty and flying and scratched me and stood on your head Mummy.  Cockatoo was happy and smiling 'cause we gave them some food.  I like birds"  so it appears she is not scarred at all by the horror attacking cockies.....

Looking at photos of Uncle Mike's and Aunty Yvanne's wedding

That's Daddy.  I love my Daddy.  I love my Andrew.
That's Uncle Mike.  I love Uncle Mike.
That's Uncle Simon.  I love Uncle Simon.
They're my peoples.  I love my peoples.......

Anni Edmund Hillary

Anni's always been a bit of a climber.  Recently I have had to rearrange her bedroom because I came to get her from her nap and found her sitting on top of her wardrobe!  All toy boxes and other climbable/stackable implements have also been removed.  I've replaced the old storage boxes with new ones from IKEA that collapse if you stand on them.  Pity she is finding them more interesting to climb into than put her toys in them..............
Anni's certainly got a lot to say these days.  The longest sentence I've noticed is something along the lines of 'I have to go to the shop 'cause I want to buy some chocolate.'  She's starting to use possessives and comparatives and some irregular verbs.  You can tell she's learning and extrapolating from what she knows when she says things like;
I did farted.
Him's crying.
I went-ed.
You did eating.
She still can't say toilet or toys. (Replaces the 't' with an 'f.'   IE "I need to go to the foylette")

The current favorites are:
Foxy (as always)
Playschool and Justine Clarke
Wholewheat noodles, apples, apple juice, bread and eggs
Cameras and all things electronic
Any kind of lolly or chocolate.  Cakes.
Swimming and the beach
Running, jumping, climbing, soccer, jumping, wrestling, jumping and jumping some more.

Random car talk

While driving in Heidelberg.
Anni:  "Mummy I can see a horse."
Mummy:  "Oh, what colour was it?"
Anni:  "Brown...... and I saw a pig.  I saw some piggys in Doncaster."
Mummy:  chuckle chuckle

Anni:  "Mummy.  TURN LEFT!  TURN LEFT!  TURN LEFT!"
Mummy:  "Why?"
Anni: " Ummmm.  'Cause."

Little Miss Muffet

Anni sings:
"Little Miss Muffet saddon a tuffet.  Eating her turds and whey........."

Mmmmm, yummy......

Being silly

Anni:  Daddy, can you hear the birds?  They're having a conversation.  There's two birds on the roof and two birds in the sky.  And there's a bird on a horse.
Daddy:  A bird on a horse?  Where?
Anni:  Daddy, don't be silly!  There's no bird on a horse!!!!!

Art critic

Yesterday Moo and I were reading a lovely book about Matisse that we borrowed from the library.  Moo liked this painting in particular.  I asked her why:

Moo:  'Cause it's got boobies............. and feet and orange butts!

Well,  I know that's what I look for in an art work.......

Foxy, I'm a doctor and you need to be careful of your band aid. (cont. below)

(cont.)
And you just need to lie down and I'll put your clothes on.  Be still and don't be silly.
Now you're ready for school.  Put on your back pack.
And here's your bucket so you can fetch water.
Don't forget your hat.  Here you are.
Have you got your lunch?  I made you a hamwich. (= ham sandwich)
All ready for school!
Mum!!!    Fox is going to school now.  Say bye bye, please.
Let's go, Foxy.
See ya!
Anni climbing in the playground:
"I'm the king of the castle.
Actually, I'm not a King.  I'm a 'lay-dee' and  I'm making pancakes with jam.  Would you like one?"

At the grocer:
"Let's get grapes Mum.  I like them.  They make me soooo happy."

In the car:
"I'm going to Scarlett's party.  She's my best friend.  She's got a party dress and I've got a party dress and we're having birthday cake and balloons and candles and cakes and Scarlett's pretty and Anni's pretty........." (and somewhere during this conversation Mum stopped listening..... but Anni kept going the whole way to the party!)

Anni:  "Daddy's going to work to .  To get sixty bucks.  To buy my toys."

Imaginative play

Anni (with her plastic gorilla and pilot figurine) :
"Don't do that monkey!  Don't hit the man.  It's not nice.
Now you'll have to go to your bedroom.  Say sorry monkey.
Look, you've made the man the cry....... poor man.
Are you sorry monkey?  Give the man a kiss.  Good monkey."

Another example of why we have to be very careful what we say and do around young children......    : )

Dreams

Usually Anni wakes up at around 8 am. This morning she woke at 6 am.  Daddy asked her why she was up so early...
Anni: "Because a mouse ran around and ran onto my bed!"

She repeated the same story for me when I asked her why she had woken so early.   We're pretty sure there aren't any mice in her room and it was just a dream....... but I'll be keeping an eye out just in case!

Yee har~

Mummy: "Shall we go to the library today?"
Anni:  "Books at the library you and me.  Books at the library one, two, three.  Get there what do we see?  Books. Books.  BOOKS!  BOOKS!  BOOKS!  Everywhere we look!!"

Mummy: "Anni, are you ready to go?"
Anni:  "Yep.  All sorted!  Oh, hang on.  I forgot my handbag."  (Mum says, 'Ha ha ha ha ha.')

Mmmm breakfast

Anni Moo went out for breakfast with Nan and Pa this morning. She pretended to read the menu......

Anni: ("reading" the menu) Eggs....toast....lunch....
Ummm..... I think I'll have the eggs. And bacon and mushrooms. And some juice!

She ate up her boiled eggs and bacon.  Changed her mind about the mushrooms and shared them around.  Left the bread because 'it looks like pizza.'  It was Turkish bread.

A huge achievement (if you're 2)

From Anni:

I've been practicing doing up buttons on a dressing frame but tonight I did up the buttons on my pajamas! All by myself!!
I was very excited because I do like to do things by myself.
Now if only I could tie my laces.......

What a lovely day

Today the sun is shining so I had a picnic outside with my friend Nathan. We all sat outside and ate yummy food and drank nice hot Jasmine tea. I really like Jasmine tea - but not as much as I like Cheezels!!!

I took my shoes and socks off and ran around on the grass. I've been begging and begging to go to the beach and now the weather is warmer I'll be able to go. When Granny gets back from her holiday, Mummy and I are going to go down to the beach house with Granny and I'm VERY excited!!

How lovely

Daddy: I don't think these shoes go with my jeans, they're too formal.... and pointy....
Anni: (Getting a pair of Mummy's high heels) Try these Daddy!

You wanna go where?

Anni: MUM! I wanna go backside!
Mummy: What????
Anni: In my sand pit.

(backyard + outside = backside Who knew?)

The orgins of food

Mummy: Where do apples come from?
Anni: Trees.
Mummy: Where does milk come from?
Anni: Cows' boobies.
Mummy: Where do eggs come from?
Anni: ...ummm.... the fridge?
Mummy: Yes, but where were they before that?
Anni: In a paper bag?

Drawing of Granny & Grandad

Sorry it's a bit faint..... They both have big circle eyes and red hair! Grandad is, of course, the large one and Granny the small one!
Click on the photo to see it more clearly.

What's on the menu

Mummy: What would you like for breakfast?
Anni: Cheerios on toast.

Love of my life

Daddy: (hugging Moo) I love hugs.
Anni: I love chocolate.

A change

You may have noticed that Moo's old blog was having less and less pictures and more and more text...... As Moo gets older I'm starting to feel that I don't want her photos out there for any strange person to do strange things with. So, I've decided to start fresh with a new blog that doesn't have her photo on it.

Maybe not as fun but the real reason I am writing this blog is as a journal of Moo's development. If you are desperate for photos you'll have to email me and ask for them.
